I’ve only worked here for a year and some change, but I loved every minute of being there. I worked with some great chefs and learned SO much about the industry, this place really helped me find my love for my work. No one was hurt, thank god, just wanted to pour one out for my peeps who are out of a job in slow season. RIP Bistro Roca 😭

Mans drowning while others are dying of thirst.
Aww… I’m so sorry! That truly does suck. But glad no one was hurt!
Well, that’s sucks
That’s not what they meant when Expo said Fire the board.
Oh no! How’d it happen?
Damn bro, saw that on the local sub earlier today. Glad everyone is ok, but such a bummer. Sorry that happened to y’all.
Oh shit is that the Antler bar in Blowing Rock?? What happened
Hey man I have been there, I stood with staff and the owners watching our/their multi generational restaurant and home burn to the ground.
It’s heart breaking, go have a shot with friends, or be alone and cry if you need to, it sucks.
Also watch for signs of shock in yourself and those around you.
White faces, sick looking and cold sweats all need medical attention.
Also check in with everyone tomorrow, get a good night’s sleep.

I feel you pain
You’re still going to make it for your shift though, right?

Rip bistro roca
Those eggplant fries were so elite
Ah balls, im sorry. I’m so grateful no one got hurt, and I hope every last manjack among you find yourself comfortably employed as soon as possible.
That’s rough man, so sorry that happened.
Oh man, I drive past that place all the time going between Boone and Charlotte. Never got the chance to stop in. Sorry, OP, that sucks.
At least the water pipes didn’t freeze and burst.
On a serious note. Sorry for the loss and glad nobody was hurt. Hope you and the coworkers can find work soon.
Damn, hope they have good insurance. Old place in worked at we had a plan that would pay workers up to a year on thr event of a catastrophic fire. Me and the GM discussed it constantly at different levels of seriousness.
When your dream comes true for other people
Happened to my boss when he was younger. They sat outside in outdoor chairs and drank while the fire department was extinguishing the fire. Total loss- insurance paid out.
I can’t tell you how many times I have arrived at work and been upset the building is still there.
I don’t wish a fire on anyone.

Real talk, though: you’re okay and that’s what’s important. Buildings can be rebuilt. People aren’t replaceable.
rip bistro roca 🙁 i have 10 magnets from there. loved that place so much, alot of good memories with my family there. i hope they can rebuild.
BRB gonna go check the grease traps on my hood.
Milton, pass the cake, don’t be greedy.
It’s a shame your stockpile of fucking napalm went up in the blaze. Genuinely sorry to hear it but holy shit that thick smoke is backdraft city.
I’m in NC and this was an old establishment
That’s rough bud. I remember when the place I cooked at burned down. I got there on Monday to find it closed and charred, the bossman didn’t even call the weekday crew to let us know it burned on Saturday night. Talked to the bartender and found out it was slow so the owner cut the old timer who knew his shit, leaving the new hire to work alone. Things picked up and they were slammed Saturday night and new kid was waaaay underwater. He had to run back to the walk-in mid-rush and when he came back some stuff was burning on the flat top. He went to douse it chemically but the owner came in stopped him because “it would shut the place down mid rush AND be a fortune to clean up.” Grease fire quickly grew out of control and they tried to pull the extinguisher system, but it was too late at that point.
All because the owner would rather buy 8 new flatscreens (between two locations) to watch the Spurs in the playoffs instead of getting the kitchen equipment serviced for once in three decades. Fucking jagoff.
OH and he tried to get us monday workers to go in and start cleaning the place up. We had to convince him that he needed to get the fire marshall out to inspect before we would go in. We all walked before the inspector arrived because he fully wanted us to risk our lives and break the law for him.
Just looked it up for the first time in forever and it’s owned by new folks who seem to have rebuilt and revitalized the joint. Good for them <3
Holy fk—don’t know the story, but as a lifer I’m sorry to see this.
I just checked [their site](https://bistroroca.com/). That home page image…
I wish the owners can rebuilt. Looks like it was a loved place.

You know Doug… I could burn the building down.
Hell of a sear on that steak though
